Eddie Redmayne Honored With OBE from Queen Elizabeth!
Eddie Redmayne is officially an Officer of the Order of the British Empire!
The 34-year-old Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them actor posed with his wife Hannah during an investiture ceremony held at Windsor Castle on Friday (December 2) in Windsor, England, after he was made an OBE by Queen Elizabeth II for his services to drama.
Eddie‘s parents were also in attendance for the ceremony.
Eddie actually attended school with the Queen’s grandson, Prince William, nearby the castle.
“She was asking me whether I prefer film or theater, and asked me if I enjoyed it,” Eddie told reporters that day. “I’m very lucky to do something I am passionate about. I’m very grateful to do something I love, because it is a rare thing.”
“[The OBE] is something that I had never thought of and it was never in my wildest imagination,” he added. “The whole experience is incredibly humbling, and also getting to be in Windsor Castle is breathtaking, around Christmas as well with all the decorations.”
Eddie also revealed his holiday plans and discussed his five-month-old daughter Iris! Click inside to hear what he had to say…
Eddie said he would be taking a “little break” over the holidays and eating “a lot of ham,” adding that he finds it “wonderful” being a parent.
“Except [Iris] does have the habit of knowing when you have a big day, like today,” he went on. “She was up until four in the morning, so both my wife and I came today with matchsticks under our eyes. Other than that she is on cracking form.”
