Emmy Rossum Demands Equal Pay for Women, 'Shameless' Season 8 Held Up in Pay Standoff

Emmy Rossum is fighting for equal pay for women, including herself, by not allowing Showtime to pay her less than her male co-star on Shameless for future seasons.

The 30-year-old actress reportedly not only wants equal pay, she wants to be paid more per episode than William H. Macy, who has made more than her in past seasons, according to THR.

Emmy has become a focal point of the series in the past season and she even made her directorial debut. She has scored several Critics’ Choice nominations for her work.

William recently was given a pay raise and if Emmy‘s deal is worked out, Showtime will then renegotiate contracts with other stars like Jeremy Allen White and Cameron Monaghan. If she doesn’t agree to a deal, the show could either go on without her or get canceled.

Throughout the years, William, 66, has received three Emmy nominations for his work on Shameless, as well as a Golden Globe nom and a SAG Award win.

It is important to note that equal pay among women is an important topic in the world right now, as women are paid 80 cents for every dollar paid to men. We commend Emmy for fighting for equality!
