Christina Grimmie's Parents File Lawsuit Against Venue Where She Was Killed

Christina Grimmie‘s family has filed a lawsuit against AEG Live over her death at Plaza Live music venue earlier this year.

The 22-year-old singer was fatally shot by a fan after a concert on June 10 at the Florida venue.

The Grimmie family are alleging wrongful death and negligent infliction of emotional distress caused by her shooting, according to Billboard.

Christina‘s family is requesting a recovery of future support the singer would have provided to her family, her projected income if she had lived to normal life expectancy, medical and funeral expenses, as well as damages for their mental pain and suffering.

The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra Plaza Foundation, which owns Plaza Live, and the security company working the event are also named in the suit.

The suit states that “superficial bag checks” were conducted instead of pat downs or metal detectors which could have caught weapons and they “failed to take adequate security measures to ensure the safety of the performers and the attendees at the concert venue.”

No date has been set for the trial.

Can you say greed? If the security measures were standard within the industry, they have no suit. And HER future earnings and support of her family? Seriously? Moochers!!!!!

I am sorry for the family, but I I fail to see how they can sue the venue. Unlike Anton Yelchin’s case, Christina Grimmie’s death was not a preventable one, and she was killed by a dude obsessed with her. That guy would have found a way to hurt her one way or another.

How can you prevent a lunatic from killing someone? The parents greedy idiots.

  • Ariana-Kaelita

And why are they pursing the matter 6 months later?
This was not a preventable death sorry to say. Anton Yelchin on the other hand, yes that was a highly preventable death. Maybe if he had the notice earlier, maybe if the car was designed better, he would still be alive.
Grimmie was followed around by a psycho who stalked her for many months and drove 4 hours away from Orlando to go kill her. He would killed her regardless if there was security or not.
