Judy Garland Was Molested by 'Wizard of Oz' Munchkins, Her Ex-Husband Claimed
In the book, Sid claimed that Judy was repeatedly molested by some of the actors playing the Munchkins in the classic movie musical The Wizard of Oz.
“They would make Judy’s life miserable on set by putting their hands under her dress … The men were 40 or more years old,” Sid wrote in the book (via People). “They thought they could get away with anything because they were so small.”
Sid and Judy were married from 1952 until 1965. He passed away in 2005.
Judy described the behavior of the Munchkin actors in an interview she gave in 1967, two years before her death. “They were little drunks … They got smashed every night, and they picked them up in butterfly nets,” she said.

Some of the actors who played Munchkins in the film, including actress Margaret Pellegrini and actor Jerry Maren, have spoken out against the claims in the past.
“There were a lot of them who liked to go out and have a few drinks, but nothing got out of hand. Everyone was having a good time and enjoying themselves. There was no rowdiness or anything like that, and those stories are very upsetting,” Margaret said back in 2009.
Jerry, who is the only Munchkin actor still alive, reportedly has said, “How could you get drunk on $50 a week? There were a couple of kids from Germany who liked to drink beer. They drank beer morning, noon and night, and got in a little trouble. They wanted to meet the girls, but they were the only ones.”
The identities of the accused Munchkin actors are not known and they are not necessarily included in the stock photo pictured here.
