Gina Rodriguez Speaks Out About Gender Wage Gap

Gina Rodriguez leaves the Today show with a smile on Monday (April 3) in New York City after acting as guest co-host for the day.

The 32-year-old actress recently partnered with Luna Bars and LeanIn.Org’s #20PercentCounts campaign to raise awareness over the gender pay gap.

“I am proud to partner with LUNA to raise awareness for the gender pay gap – a real issue far too many women face,” Gina, Luna’s Equal Pay Day spokesperson, said in a statement. “If you are capable of doing a job, there is no reason why you should get paid any less than anyone else doing the exact same job. Together with LUNA, we’re raising awareness for equal pay, and empowering women everywhere to never settle for the status quo.”

“Women on average are paid 20 percent less than men, and Black and Hispanic women are paid even less. This hurts women, families and our economy,” president Rachel Thomas said. “We’re proud to partner with LUNA, a vocal supporter of women’s equality, to highlight the unfairness of the gender pay gap because we can’t get to equality until women are paid fairly for their work.”

FYI: Gina is wearing Tamara Mellon shoes.

Sorry Gina but it isn’t just about doing the same job. I do the same job as my corowkwr but she make sure $10k a year more than me. But she has been doing it 10 years longer. Does the fact we do the same job negate her experience? I don’t agree.
