Jennifer Hudson Reveals Whitney Houston Influenced Her Role In Netflix's 'Sandy Wexler'!
Jennifer Hudson has revealed the real inspiration behind her brand new original Netflix film, Sandy Wexler!
In the movie, the 35-year-old actress plays an aspiring singer in 1990s Hollywood named Courtney Clarke opposite Adam Sandler, who plays talent agent Sandy Wexler.
While promoting Sandy Wexler on Monday (April 17) in New York City, Jennifer revealed that Whitney Houston was her main influence for her performance.
“I remember Adam and Steven Brill, the director, saying it’s kind of like a comedic version of The Bodyguard, in a way,” Jennifer told ABC. “And you definitely feel the sentiment of Whitney throughout the film, even with the song ‘DJ,’ it kind of has more of a ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ or ‘My Name is Not Susan’ type of vibe to it. And even my style — Whitney was a huge reference for a lot of the looks for Courtney in the film.”
That same evening, Jennifer made an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where she showed off her immaculate range with one of her favorite church hymns – Watch!
