'King Kong' Headed to TV with 'Female-Focused Spin'

A King Kong live action television show is headed to the small-screen, and the show will feature a female lead.

MarVista Entertainment and IM Global Television will start working on King Kong Skull Island, set in the Kong Universe, Deadline reports. The show will be based on Merian C. Cooper’s King Kong and DeVito ArtWorks’ Skull Island. It will be written by Jonathan Penner and Stacy Title.

“Jonathan and Stacy have taken a world that has enraptured audiences in all its many forms over the years and given it a contemporary, female-focused spin,” MarVista CEO Fernando Szew said in a statement.

No release date or network has been announced!
