Met Gala 2017 Theme is 'Rei Kawakubo / Comme des Garcons'

We’re less than a week away from the 2017 Met Gala and we have all the details on this year’s theme.

Titled “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons,” this will be the first exhibit at the museum to focus on a living designer since 1983 when Yves Saint Laurent was the muse.

“Rei Kawakubo is one of the most important and influential designers of the past forty years,” Andrew Bolton. Costume Institute curator, told Vogue. “By inviting us to rethink fashion as a site of constant creation, recreation, and hybridity, she has defined the aesthetics of our time.”

The 2017 Met Ball will take place on Monday, May 1 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

This year’s event will be co-chaired by Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour.
