A Dog’s Purpose

The heart-warming story of a dog’s many lives, A Dog’s Purpose, comes out on Blu-Ray today.

Based on W. Bruce Cameron’s best-selling book, the new film follows the story of a dog that finds himself in a new dog body, after new dog body giving us a small glimpse of the many lives and purposes a dog has.

When the movie was announced to have director Lasse Hallstrom (Hachi: A Dog’s Tale) you knew that this film would be filled with tear-jerking Hollywood moments. The film definitely does not disappoint and gives us a heart-warming dog film that we haven’t had in a while.

As the film follows dogs that have impacted various people’s lives, every moment is heart warming or heart-breaking but carried on by the understanding of a dog. Voiced by Frozen‘s Josh Gad, the dog sets out to discover its purpose through touching human connections and disconnections.

The largest part of the film follows the connection of a dog named Bailey with his young boy owner Ethan. Their bond is the most touching and the most necessary component for the film’s finale.

The film is presented in 1080p with s standard DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless soundtrack. Features include a few deleted scenes, outtakes, and a featurette on the making of the film as seen through one of the dogs.

Overall, the film provides exactly what you would expect from a Hollywood dog movie. From heart warming moments to tear-jerking scenes, the film touches upon what humans value through the eyes of a dog.
