Broadway's 'Amelie' Set to Close This Month

Amelie is the first Broadway show to post a closing notice following the announcement of the Tony Award nominations this week.

The new musical, starring original Hamilton star Phillipa Soo, sadly didn’t receive any nominations and grosses for the tuner have been low since previews started in March.

“It has been an honor and privilege to work with the brilliant, talented team of writers, actors and creatives who have brought Amelie to life for the past two years, from Berkeley Rep, to Center Theatre Group, to Broadway. We’d like to express our gratitude to all of them, as well as the audiences who have shared the experience with them and with us,” the producers of the musical said in a statement.

Amelie will close on May 21, but the show will live on through its cast album, set for a digital release on May 19 and a physical release on June 9.
