Miley Cyrus Clarifies Her Comments Made About Hip-Hop Music on Social Media

Miley Cyrus is standing by her comments about hip-hop music she made in her Billboard cover story.

In the interview, she referenced Kendrick Lamar‘s new song “Humble” that she liked the most “because it’s not ‘Come sit on my d–k, suck on my c–k.’ I can’t listen to that anymore.”

Miley adds, “That’s what pushed me out of the hip-hop scene a little. It was too much ‘Lamborghini, got my Rolex, got a girl on my c–k’”I am so not that.”

“To be clear I respect ALL artists who speak their truth and appreciate ALL genres of music (country , pop , alternative …. but in this particular interview I was asked about rap),” Miley wrote on Instagram after the backlash. “I have always and will continue to love and celebrate hip hop as I’ve collaborated with some of the very best!”

“At this point in my life I am expanding personally/musically and gravitating more towards uplifting, conscious rap!” she continued. “As I get older I understand the effect music has on the world & Seeing where we are today I feel the younger generation needs to hear positive powerful lyrics! I am proud to be an artist without borders and thankful for the opportunity to explore so many different styles/ sounds!”

anyone with basic elementary reading comprehension knows what she meant but I guess that’s the problem with black schools and being underfunded

  • plez

Racist to assume most of the people that felt upset with her statement were black. Majority of hip hop fans are white. Secondly reading comprehension is not only a problem in the black communities. We have a clear example of that when reading or listening to some Trump voters who were mostly white. Sadly there are underfunded schools all over the United States and those schools educate children from all races.

  • namers

Rap music is an oxymoron. Why do white kids care that black rapper only talk about sex, drugs and violence? Hip hop has SUNK society. Nothing redeemable IMHO.

  • toepwm

“Majority of hip hop fans are white” wew don’t let black people hear you say that! These are people that tell hollywood to make black shows and movies that have 99% and 100% on rottentomatoes when those ARE shows and movies that hollywood already made! They think that everything they have made is only made and supported by them!

What hasn’t changed with Cyrus is that she’s still a dirty-mouthed exhibitionist.

  • DEADP00L

Woman, you are not even a rapper nor hip hop. You can’t even tell the difference. You have never done anything of the sort and wouldn’t know it if it bit you. Please stop embarrassing yourself. You have collaborated with none of the greats and your descriptions only prove that. You hung out with trash, you act like trash, your music is trash and your choices were always trash; so don’t bring others down to your level in order to artificially elevate yourself.

No one is falling for it.

  • quartzoup

Never put down a genre of music. It exposes the fact that you have no music taste of your own.

“That’s what pushed me out of the hip-hop scene a little”.

This bitch. She was never IN the hip-hop scene. She was a two-bit country singer turned pop artist with a one-hit wonder daddy that bought her a subpar TV show marketed to kids who have no taste anyways. And she thought her little minstrel show mocking the worst stereotypes of black women somehow made her “in” when all it did was make her a joke. So tired of these talentless Beckys thinking they can comment on anything when they’ve never worked a day in their life. Someone get this white girl on the first plane back to Nashville or whatever backwards hick village she slithered out of so we can stop pretending she matters or has ever contributed anything substantial to music.

  • RettCall

Go back to fucking your cousin, or whatever it is you white people do, instead of being a racist cunt on the Internet.

  • RettCall

You mean like all those white rock stars who sing about, wait for it, drugs and sex and violence? The ones whose dicks white people are always sucking? Lmao. Give me a break.

  • Cooper

Technically, by your standards white people suck everyone’s dick. Don’t forget the largest purchaser of rap music is 17 year old white boys (go figure). I agree though they ALL singer about the same things. However, they should still ALL be called out for glorifying violence, misogyny, etc. but it seems wide spread for all artists black or white.
