Fyre Festival Headed to Court For First Hearing Since Failed Event

Fyre Festival and its founders Ja Rule and Billy McFarland are headed to court for the first time since the chaotic event.

The festival, which is potentially facing a $100 million class-action lawsuit, will face its initial hearing on Thursday (May 18) in a New York State court.

During the hearing, investigator Oleg Itkin is aiming to get an injunction to freeze the company’s assets, books and records.

Oleg reportedly loaned Fyre $700,000 in three promissory notes and with the injunction he wants to freeze assets in various bank accounts and an account at Scott Trade, according to Variety.

There are currently at least nine other lawsuits – including six class actions – against the festival.
