Hugh Grant Offers Reward for Return of WW2 Veteran's Medals

Hugh Grant is doing his part to help out blind World War II veteran Alfred Barlow, who lost his medals during a recent visit to Normandy, France, where he was attending a D-Day memorial.

The 95-year-old veteran made a stop at a service station near Birmingham, England, with his wife and grandson on his way home, realizing afterward that his medals had gone missing.

“I have found it all very distressing,” Alfred said, according to the Manchester Evening News. “These medals are worth very little to sell but to me they are priceless. I had intended to pass all of my medals on to my grandson which makes it even more upsetting.”

The Love Actually star is personally offering a $1,100 reward for the medals’ safe return. The amount has since been raised to around $5,000 thanks to the help of others.

“£1000 reward for their safe return,” Hugh tweeted. “Contact [email protected]. Anonymity guaranteed.”
