Fox Developing New Singing Competition After Losing 'Idol'

Fox is looking to develop a new singing competition series to go head-to-head with American Idol and The Voice next year!

The network brought singing competition series to the forefront with American Idol in 2002, but the series ended its 15-season run on the network in 2016. Now, the show is headed to ABC next year while The Voice continues to be a slam dunk for NBC.

Fox’s new series will have a format in which “four finalists are selected in the premiere episode. New contestants then challenge the finalists each week to steal one of the four slots. The winner is named in the season finale,” according to Variety.

While the show is being given the title The Final Four for some international markets, it will not have that name in the U.S. due to the NCAA’s tournaments that are associated with that title.
