Freddie Highmore's 'The Good Doctor' Character Is Not A Representative of Autism

Freddie Highmore sits on a panel for his new show The Good Doctor at the 2017 Summer Television Critics Association Press Tour held at the Beverly Hilton on Sunday (August 6) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The 25-year-old actor was joined at the panel by his co-stars Hill Harper, Nicholas Gonzalez, Richard Schiff, and Antonia Thomas, along with executive producers Daniel Dae Kim and David Shore.

While at the panel, David revealed that the show is not a representative of Autism, which the main character is diagnosed with.

“We saw a lot of doctors, we consulted with people, we’ve got people on the spectrum who we’re working with,” he said, via Deadline. “But he is a specific character, he’s not there to represent autism, he’s there to represent Dr. Shaun Murphy.”

FYI: Freddie is wearing an Original Penguin shirt.

    Rip-off of a Korean show.

  • Just Saying

Sigh… It’s called a remake. Rip off would be if they hadn’t payed for the rights of the story and characters to their respective creators, like the assholes from Timeless did when they took the idea from El Ministerio del Tiempo.

He’s one of the best actors his age. He was amazing in Bates Motel. Wish he made more movies, but I think he will dedicate to only tv shows. I see an Emmy nom in his future, can’t wait for this show.

Potatoes, Potatoes, it’s ALL the same. It is not an original idea.

  • Just Saying

Yeah, but it might not be a bad one. Look at The Office and Shameless, great shows that happen to be remakes :)

I haven’s seen The Office, was never a fan of the original, but Shameless, Showtime’s version, is really so much better than the original.
