Kendall Jenner Responds to Bar Claiming She Left No Tip

Kendall Jenner is speaking out after a bar accused her of not leaving a tip on a bill for $24.

The bar Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn, N.Y. posted an Instagram photo of Kendall‘s receipt, which had no writing in the tip and total sections. “Don’t forget to tip your bartender,” the establishment captioned the photo.

Kendall took to Twitter on Monday (August 7) to clear up the story and let everyone know that she left a tip in cash.

“damn, i guess next time we won’t tip in cash,” she tweeted while quoting a fan who defended her.

I always pay with a card and tip in cash. I do some part time bar work on the weekends and I like the tips in cash also.

I ALWAYS tip in cash. too many restuarants where I and friends have worked don’t give the server a tip thats paid on card, BUT it was a fireable offence to tell a customer that, so if they asked if I got the tip if they added it onto card payment, i had to say yes even though I didn’t or I’d be fired.

i’m not american so forgive me if im clueless about this. It seems to be a big problem there? where i live it’s okay if we don’t leave tip because the total of the bill already includes the service tax. so basically all the servers are indirectly tipped i would say? so crappy or superb services don’t matter it depends on the server whether they want to be superb or crappy. I went to the states and it does feel like most the servers are trying to be fake nice because they were expecting something in return (big tip) and not because they’re doing it nicely because that’s the decent thing to do. just my two cents.

In many states tipped employees, such as servers, can actually be paid below the minimum as long as their wage + tips meet the minimum. It’s pretty rare for servers to be paid above the minimum wage, so the only way most servers can increase their earnings is by making a decent amount in tips. It also doesn’t include the fact that most servers don’t work full 8 hour shifts due to the nature of the restaurant industry. Tipping in the US is very important. Unless you’re in a large group or at a resort or ordering room service, it’s unlikely tip is included in the bill. If it is, it will clearly state it at the bottom.

Servers are at the mercy of customers and many customers have very high standards of servers, so most servers go over the top with friendliness and attentiveness, so they can pay their bills. It’s not like in other countries where servers only need to be competent and polite in doing their job.

Write “Cash” on the Tip line if you’re tipping in cash. It’s not that difficult.
