The 'Sex & The City 3' Movie Is Officially Not Happening - Find Out Why!

A third Sex & the City movie is no longer on the table – and Kim Cattrall is the reason.

The movie, which was greenlit by Warner Bros. and due to go into pre-production this month, has been shelved due to Kim‘s demands, according to DailyMailTV.

Sarah Jessica Parker confirmed the cancellation in an interview with Extra on Thursday (September 28): “”It’s over…we’re not doing it. I’m disappointed. We had this beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story. It’s not just disappointing that we don’t get to tell the story and have that experience, but more so for that audience that has been so vocal in wanting another movie.”

According to the report, Kim demanded that they produce other movies she was developing or she wouldn’t sign for the project. Warner Bros. refused, and so production was canceled.

Sarah, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon were all reportedly on board to film the now-scrapped movie.

Seriously, she’s done the world a favor. No one needs another SATC film.

I’ve noticed Kim is the favourite scapegoat when it comes to these rumours. Also, notice that SJP isn’t the one who said anything about her.

  • JLover

    They could have replaced her!

I love Sex and the City but the movies were horrible.

I have to say though, I see nothing wrong with her demand they produce her other films, and nothing wrong with them refusing. This author is wrong to paint Kim like she did something wrong.

    No… They couldn’t.

The first one wasn’t that bad, but the second…

good. bunch of old bats trying to milk this show for all it’s worth. someone tell kim cattrall no one wants to see her in any movie.

I’m not at all disappointed, the 2nd try was total crap. Canceling the 3rd one is probably a good idea.

This a business, if the studio can milk it, so should she. Obviously, she’s an important part of the series and she definitely has a lot of pull aside from SJP, her character is iconic to the series or else they wouldn’t had canned it. Bravo, she doesn’t need it and her priorities are elsewhere. They need Samantha in the movie, the fans love her. Get it girl… don’t apologize for not bending backwards to these executives who only look out for their pockets.

I kind of disagree.. the last film is a horrible note to end on. Cheesy, “on location” instead of NYC, bad character plots – I’d like to see it end in NYC with a return to form.

First one had too much J-Hud, and Miranda/Steve was a misstep, but I agree.

  • Barry

What’s wrong is that she clearly waited until the last minute before saying no.
If the movie was ready to go, she clearly put a bunch of people who were supposed to work on it unemployed. That’s not classy at all.

They’ve never seemed keen about doing a 3rd film. When the show finished, the ratings weren’t great and they should have just left it at the one film to catch everyone up a few years later. The second one added nothing to it and I very much doubt a third would either and from their response, it could be they think the same but rather than admit it, they seem to have used Kim as a scapegoat as this is just too stupid an excuse. She has said herself tons of times if the film was good, she would do it.

  • BooHoo

totally agree. Never loved the series. The movies were just so Blah. And I hated the pairing of Carrie and Big

Kim Cattrell’s character, Samantha made that show! Samantha was self sufficient, bold, independent & made no apologies. She was straight forward & funny as hell, the show wouldn’t have lasted as long as it did without that character.. SJP just liked being the main character & obviously loves the limelight, she’s not that great of an actress! Besides, the 2nd film was one of the worst films ever. And if they didn’t think too much of Kim, then why’d they keep asking her to do it?
