Cara Delevingne Recounts Terrifying Encounter with Harvey Weinstein

Cara Delevingne is bravely coming forward with a personal story about Harvey Weinstein.

The 25-year-old actress and model took to Instagram to detail an encounter she had with the disgraced Hollywood producer in a hotel room. Cara worked with Harvey on this year’s Tulip Fever, though it’s unclear if that is the movie she’s referencing in her statement.

“When I arrived I was relieved to find another woman in his room and thought immediately I was safe. He asked us to kiss and she began some sort of advances upon his direction. I swiftly got up and asked him if he knew that I could sing. And I began to sing….i thought it would make the situation better….more professional….like an audition….i was so nervous. After singing I said again that I had to leave. He walked me to the door and stood in front of it and tried to kiss me on the lips. I stopped him and managed to get out of the room,” Cara detailed in her lengthy and upsetting statement.

Many women in and out of Hollywood have bravely come forward with stories including Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow, among others.

Full Statement From Cara Delevingne

“When I first started to work as an actress, i was working on a film and I received a call from‎ Harvey Weinstein asking if I had slept with any of the women I was seen out with in the media. It was a very odd and uncomfortable call….i answered none of his questions and hurried off the phone but before I hung up, he said to me that If I was gay or decided to be with a woman especially in public that I’d never get the role of a straight woman or make it as an actress in Hollywood. A year or two later, I went to a meeting with him in the lobby of a hotel with a director about an upcoming film. The director left the meeting and Harvey asked me to stay and chat with him. As soon as we were alone he began to brag about all the actresses he had slept with and how he had made their careers and spoke about other inappropriate things of a sexual nature. He then invited me to his room. I quickly declined and asked his assistant if my car was outside. She said it wasn’t and wouldn’t be for a bit and I should go to his room. At that moment I felt very powerless and scared but didn’t want to act that way hoping that I was wrong about the situation. When I arrived I was relieved to find another woman in his room and thought immediately I was safe. I stopped him and managed to get out of the room. I still got the part for the film and always thought that he gave it to me because of what happened. Since then I felt awful that I did the movie. I felt like I didn’t deserve the part. I was so hesitant about speaking out….I didn’t want to hurt his family. I felt guilty as if I did something wrong. I was also terrified that this sort of thing had happened to so many women I know but no one had said anything because of fear”

    Very disturbing and sad situation.

Let me clarify, and rephrase. I find Cara’s recounting of her experience to be very disturbing, and sad. I am sad that she felt powerless, and afraid to speak out about the situation for fear of ruining his family, even though it was/is HIS actions that ruined his family, not hers. The entire situation is God-awful, and I hope there are many people sitting, and reflecting on their actions in shame over enabling this man to continue for DECADES. It is disgusting.

  • Angie

    So messed up.

  • Nurse Shadie

This is so disturbing :( it makes me sad that he even brags about sleeping with a number of actresses! I feel fo them.

  • Narima

Proud of her but why she didn’t say this befor ?! Why ?! And I want to know what make those bad things about him come to light now?!

  • PeterParkour

Proud of her for how she stood up and is honest about her guilt now. She’s a tough woman and I admire her.

  • Shell

One or two people saying it can be called liars and are only trying it on which is what happened when this first came out. He denied it and said it was lies obviously not realising it gave the others the strength to come forward and show him for who he really is.

  • calafeast

Ughhhh so repulsive. She must have been like 23, and looks about 15. And he looks like himself. He needs to be castrated first, then killed slowly.

  • meme

He’s talking to her about sex and she STILL goes up to his hotel room? he tried to kiss her, he didn’t rape her. Harvey is a pig but these women are not all so believable. Cara wants attention. Are all these women so weak and stupid that they refused to speak up? Cara’s incident happened what, 2 years ago? She could easily have said something to someone. And she STILL did the movie.

I srsly don’t get the whole “fear” part of not coming forward. so many woman everyone in Hollywood knew or at least heard of HW being a pig & yet NO one came forward for years. just goes to show you how so many people look up to these artists & they are all cowards allowing for years/decades for other woman to experience horrid situations all because they are afraid? afraid of what? look at Harvey now .. who is afraid now?

She specifically said that she felt guilty afterwards when she got the part in the movie. Guilt is a typical emotion that women feel after being sexually harassed or assaulted, like whatever happened is somehow their fault. And NO, Cara didn’t go up to his room to exchange sex for a movie role.
