That’s a shame cause it’s a very good film. There will be many more opportunities.

Though I wanted to see it for the subject matter I was surprised how good it was. The narrative from a child’s POV was an extremely good choice. The ending was very moving.

  • whodunit?

Its most likely because she’s American and Netflix produced it and they are an American company. That might have disqualified it from being considered Foreign.

BPM is a HUGE snub as well.

    poor jolie

  • suzybel

It wasn’t snubbed it just isn’t Oscar worthy.

  • Mona Kabel

No, its bc. they hate her ;-)

  • GroundControl500

No. It’s absolutely Oscar worthy. But every year there are many films and performances that are Oscar worthy and don’t manage to snag a nom.

  • whodunit?

Watch the movie. It is. But art is subjective. So to each their own. Happy that it got as far as it did. Movies like this need all the attention they can get.

He movie didn’t get a nod. So her fans are saying that men (establishment) are against her. which movie on that list doesn’t deserve to be there? She wasn’t snubbed. Just didn’t make the list. But reading comments from her fans. some really ugly people that attack everyone and anyone.

I think they undervalued First They Killed My Father because it was directed by a female movie star.

  • Jtberry

Angelina desperately wanted to get nominated in the Best Foreign category, but she didn’t get it.

  • cee

That’s why they gave her a humanitarian Oscar. They just have little respdct for women plus she is Angelina Jolie the no is star and they undervalue her talent.

  • Orianna Petroy

The scene with the mines was out of this world! The eyes of the little girl, remembering that she puts those mines!!!Priceless!!!

  • Syvelt

Just like all of her other movies. She has a bad case of narcissism.

  • cee

Do we know what time Angie’s UN meeting is?

  • Estefan M

Woot woot, a movie from my country made the short list!Suck it, Angelina!

  • tboz

I’d rather for the film to not make the Oscar list than to have her go and not win like so many have done. Meryl Streep should not even show up anymore. They wouldn’t keep humiliating me over and over. Wishing her joy tonight and luck at the GG’s. And the other nominations for the film. The Breadwinner should win but Coco might pull it out. Great job so far and she has nothing but live from the film industry so you spur hags can stop the BS

  • tboz

    Will it win?

  • tboz

They wouldn’t know what is Oscar worthy if it hit them in the face, anything or anytime they can run in and snag her they will. Sukki/fuuugi will be in here commenting all day while other people work

Last year “Elle” was also out of the short list. Apart from Lebanon and Israel that are in the Midle-East nothing for Asia. I guess they only remember Asia when they need the US flops to make extra cash. Politics as usual. Of course they will invite Angie to the Oscars . They always do that after a snub. Just hope she says no.
Just hope that the Globes Basics give Father a win as they did it with “Elle”.

  • Fãs de Angelina Jolie

Angelina is still the producer of the animated film The Breadwinner, this movie I believe will be nominated for an Oscar, so I think she might be there to support him.

    In The Fade!

I can bear the fact that FTKMF was not nominated for an Oscar, but BPM did not, this movie was one of the favorites to the award.

  • sandra

don’t hold your breath. Apparently they changed the rules that makes it more difficult to small studios like Gkids.

  • cafeast

Oooooooooouuuuuwwwwww Brad’s wrath knows no bounds! Saggy and looks like a homeless person, but he strikes again! Just like what he did to one of those colored charity kids that she collected… on that airplane… hot mess!

  • Fãs de Angelina Jolie

I know, but I believe these rules will be put into practice only next year.

  • sandra

    great. :)

    The greatest achievement of FTKMF:

    - It is definitively getting the message across around the world. That it is creating discussions about genocide and how much the Cambodians suffered during the time. How some people survived.

    - That so many people around the world are recognizing how fantastic the film is. Sure, nominations & awards means a lot for some people as a proof of good film work by award-giving bodies. Of course, generally people in the entertainment industry would love to receive nominations & awards. However, perhaps in as much as AJ would love it too not only for herself but for Loung, Maddox, Cast, Crews and all those involved in the making of the film and most of all CAMBODIA as a whole, what may be more important to her is the people in Cambodia who would know it’s history and those who survived their past would be feeling the same way how Loung Ung is feeling it. She wanted to help others and maybe they would be able to get some kind of healing by facing the past just like her friend Loung. What is most touching is that there have already been so many discussions held everywhere about the film and people were very grateful to know & be part of it .

    - Awards or no awards, FTKMF is already a part of people who care or want to know, not only only now but in the years to come. It is part of history as well as a film that is NOT afraid to talk about real issues from real stories. There are so many films who were nominated/ awarded in the past but they are just forgotten. Few or if not, NO ONE is already talking about those films. However, I am very confident, FTKMF will still be discussed in the future in schools, forums, training, counseling and other venues due to the subjest matter.

-So, I would like to think that’s AJ mindset considering she has already found her purpose in life. And I believe this is more important for her to achieve in life.

I saw “Loveless”.This wasn’t that good to me!I don’t even compare to FTKMF

Brad fans only as usual a bunch of spiteful idiots. This movie has done well and has a Golden Globe nom and she is doing well appreciate it. The struggle for hatred of the woman is real and terribly sad. But Angie is still that bitch believe that.

    Great news. lol

The Awards dinner starts at 7pm then the program at 8pm I believe.

Movie was boring and confusing…was poorly directed

where is the loon Passing Through? hiding, too shameful? LOL

  • tboz

Fact is what movie has Pitt has his hands actually in alone that won anything? Nothing because Dede and Jeremy does the work at Plan B, then he buys the best pic. All campaign. Twelve years nor Moonlight was worthy. Again politics. He won’t win an Oscar or anything else for acting. She is smart enough to act, write, and direct.

  • yolly

Will not watch Oscars with Angie not been nominated.

  • neer

Humanitarian awards such as UNCA 2017 I believe means so much for AJ more than anything because this reminds her of her interactions with the less fortunate people and this is also what really changes her perspective in life. What matters more to her is related to her 2 top priorities in life: her children’s welfare and charity/ humanitarian work. Besides, she is also reminded that there is more things & efforts to be done. Any blessings she may receive not related anything at all to her priorities are only a bonus and if there’s none, she would not wallow & cry. Perhaps, she may be disappointed at first just like any person but she is not the type who will blame others and whine. … and she is definitely NOT a loser. Never. Awards doesn’t make her less of a person…. moreso, entertainment industry awards. Life goes on and just because some people don’t recognize her talents & efforts, she would now just hide & run. Oh no, AJ is not like that. She will continue to do what is more significant and just and be of relevance to this world… even in her own small way. As long as there are more people around the world who believe in her and appreciate what she has done that I think is enough motivation for her.

  • Catty911

Sure – then explain her desperate shilling for these movies – I mean meeting the Pope for Unbroken, using her kids relentlessly – she is shameless & for you to suggest Oscars don’t mean much to her is just delusional.

  • Catty911

Don’t deflect – this isn’t about Brad this is about Angie & her movie not getting nominated. Honestly it blows my mind how she has convinced some people that she should even be considered at all – she is a mediocre director at best.

  • Catty911

It’s not a “snub” at all – it didn’t deserve to be nominated & it wasn’t – a “snub” denotes that it deserved the nomination & didn’t get it – big difference.

  • Catty911

Anybody can buy a Golden Globe nomination – where have you been living – Angie even managed to snag one for The Tourist & was made a joke of!

  • Catty911

It wasn’t a snub – her movie did not deserve to get nominated.

  • Catty911

Of what? You loons can’t handle the truth so always throw out the lame & very old “jealous” – grow up already.

  • Catty911

Oh please – always excuses for this one – she didn’t deserve a nomination & didn’t get one – stop with the lame excuses already – acting like she is Spielberg or Scorcese.
