Beanie Feldstein Reveals How 'Lady Bird' Led to Her Broadway Debut in 'Hello, Dolly!'

Beanie Feldstein made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday (December 20) and revealed how her critically acclaimed film Lady Bird led to her Broadway break in Hello, Dolly!

“That’s what is so crazy. Hello, Dolly! came about through Lady Bird,” the 24-year-old actress told Jimmy. “Our beautiful producing team, Scott [Rudin] and Eli [Bush], who also produced Lady Bird, were watching some of the footage and I sing in the movie. I sing a little bit and they were like ‘we don’t have a Minnie Fay yet in Hello, Dolly!‘”

“I was in L.A and I did a tape with a casting director and they sent it off to New York and an hour and a half later I got the call that I got the part,” Beanie revealed. “I fell off my bed. It was surreal.”

Beanie also shares footage of her belting “Tomorrow” as an Annie understudy – Watch below!
