Princess Michael of Kent Accused of Wearing Racist Brooch to Meet Meghan Markle

Some royal drama has come out of Queen Elizabeth II‘s Christmas lunch – and it all boils down to a brooch.
When Princess Michael of Kent arrived to the event – where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were also in attendance – she was wearing a piece of jewelry called a Blackamoor brooch, an 18th century antique that many consider to be symbolic of racial conquest.
The brooch features a dark-skinned man wearing a turban. The line of jewelry is known for its depictions of people of color in positions of servitude, according to TMZ.
It’s not known if Meghan, who is biracial, had an exchange with Princess Michael at the lunch.
Princess Michael has had past controversies involving race.
