Dua Lupa Apologizes for Using N-Word in 2014 Cover of 'Smoke, Drink, Break Up'

Dua Lipa has found herself in some hot water after one of her cover songs back from 2014 surfaced with her using some inappropriate language.

The 22-year-old singer used the n-word while performing a cover of Mija J‘s “Smoke, Drink, Break Up” and has taken to Twitter to apologize.

“In relation to my 2014 cover I never meant to offend or upset anyone. I didnt say the full word but I can admit I shouldnt have gone there at all and that a different word could’ve been recorded altogether to avoid offence and confusion. I wasn’t thinking it through at the time,” Dua tweeted.

In another tweet, Dua went on to write, ” I always stand up for social justice and I am very sorry to anyone that I have offended x.”
