Greta Gerwig Delivered Wrong Golden Globes Acceptance Speech: 'None Of It Came Out'

Greta Gerwig accepted the award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for her movie Lady Bird at the 2018 Golden Globes and ended up completely winging her acceptance speech.

“I had an entire speech that I was going to give and I got up there and none of it came out,” the 34-year-old actress and filmmaker revealed while making an appearance on The View on Monday (January 9) in New York City. “I looked at Oprah and I was like, ‘It’s gone!’”

Greta also revealed she had forgotten to thank her partner Noah Baumbach — whom she described as “my partner and my supporter… he’s my favorite writer and my favorite first reader.”

That same day, Greta made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and chats with Jimmy about learning to direct and write her Golden Globe-winning first film, Lady Bird, on the fly – Watch after the cut!

FYI: Greta is wearing L.K. Bennett shoes.

Understandable though. After her best director nomination snub, I don’t think she was expecting to have the chance to be on that stage, much less delivering a speech.

Greta is a class act… I have so much respect for her after she apologized for working with Woody Allen. Her statement was incredibly thoughtful and effective, and I appreciated that she explained WHY it was wrong – real understanding is what leads to growth and change, and she set a powerful example. Wishing nothing but the best for her!
