Liam Neeson Shares Thoughts on 'Witch Hunt' Happening in Hollywood

Liam Neeson walks the red carpet at the Irish premiere of The Commuter on Friday (January 12) at Cineworld in Dublin, Ireland.

The 65-year-old actor was asked to share his thoughts on the sexual harassment scandals happening in Hollywood, which he referred to as a “bit of a witch hunt.”

“There’s some people, famous people, being suddenly accused of touching some girl’s knee or something and suddenly they’re being dropped from their program,” Liam told Irish outlet RTE.

Liam defended radio personality Garrison Keiller, who was dropped from his job amid allegations last year. He also said that he is “on the fence” about Dustin Hoffman‘s sexual misconduct allegations.

At the end of the discussion, Liam said that the movement is a “healthy” one though and that he’s glad to see it happen “across every industry.”

it goes well beyond touching a knee, Liam.

    It’s a good thing he doesn’t have a daughter.

The thing is, as a society we always do all or nothing. After years and years of terrible behavior and silence it’s like people are now trying to make amend by rushing things and tracking down every man that has had accusations made against him. What happened to presumption of innocence ? I sincerely applaud and fully support every woman who spoke her truth and stood up for herself because they deserve justice and this is a discussion that needed to happen. Women need to feel safe, supported and listened to when they make such accusations. But, I think we need to respect the process, we are not the judges, justice should be done in a legal court and not in the media.
Also, should a man lose his job because he once put his hand on a woman’s knee ? I think he should definitely be warned and maybe suspended for some time, to make it clear that this kind of behavior is not tolerated, but fired, crucified by the media and thrown away ? Bit too much I’d say.
And of course if it was repetitive behavior then bye felicia.

Damn how to not get like comparing the sexual harassment of women in Hollywood with knee touching. By the way I’ve had men touch my fucking knee without my permission and thats nasty they always did it in a sexual way. I’ve never had a woman touch my knee I wonder why ????

  • Just Saying

For f*cks sake, no one is accusing anyone for simply touching knees. Try cornering them in rooms to force themselves on women, groping during auditions, exposing themselves in dressing rooms, forcing them to perform sexual acts without consent, rape, Liam, RAPE… Anything to say about the ones being “witch hunted” because of that?

  • mxxm

He’s right. You shouldn’t lose your career just because someone who doesn’t like you decides to make an allegation. That’s all someone has to do now to ruin anybodys life and it’s wrong

  • Sansa Squad

Aaaaand the countdown to allegations surfacing about Liam Neeson begins now!

  • Sansa Squad

Is that what you think is happening?

  • FerCat

Maybe his wife could explain it to him. Oh, wait she’s dead.

  • Amber

    That was harsh.

In every workplace, any sort of unwanted, unsolicited, sexual act (a comment, a touch, an innuendo) is prohibited! That is sexual harassment 101. Even if the man misreads the situation, he cannot touch, kiss (and definitely expose himself to) a woman without her permission! This speaks to men neglecting, or not understanding the concept of consent. Yes, they can lose their jobs for this behavior, and when the behavior contributes to a hostile work environment, the person should lose their jobs. Otherwise they risk lawsuits, litigation, etc.

*I would also like the point out that not ALL men commit sexual harassment, women can commit sexual harassment as well, but given the countless examples of men being called out over the past few months, and the discussion centering around men, I used men in my response as an example.

  • Dylan

My guess would be that he’s worried some of his “knee touching” behavior might come out soon.

  • mxxm

    Smh really?

  • Will

Let’s see how many women will work with you now, totally dismissing an issue that’s been buried and protected for a couple of decades.

  • Will

I find it hard to think she would condone what he’s saying now, she had class and dignity.
