Brigitte Bardot Denounces the #MeToo Movement

Brigitte Bardot does not endorse the #MeToo movement.

The 83-year-old French And God Created Woman cinema legend called out the movement during an interview with French magazine Paris Match, as reported by Variety.

Brigitte asserts that in the case of actresses – but “not women in general” – “the vast majority of cases” are “hypocritical, ridiculous, without interest,” and that the movement distracts from “important themes that could be discussed.”

“I thought it was nice to be told that I was beautiful or that I had a nice little a”. This kind of compliment is nice,” she said, suggesting that actresses “come on” to producers for roles, “and then, so they’ll be talked about, they say they were harassed.”

“In reality, rather than helping them, it hurts them.”

Brigitte retired from acting in 1973 to focus on her work for animal rights.
