Denzel Washington Gifted Susan Kelechi Watson with Scholarship While in College (Video)

This Is Us star Susan Kelechi Watson recalled a story on Live with Kelly & Ryan where Denzel Washington paid for her scholarship to go to London, England while she was a student at Howard University.

“They didn’t have any minority students, much less [people] from a historically black university….So we were like one of the inaugural groups to go,” Susan said of the opportunity to go to Oxford to study Shakespeare.

Susan then revealed that Denzel paid for her portion of the scholarship to go to London.

She then one time ran into him, and recalled, “I said, ‘Excuse me, you paid for my scholarship. He said, ‘Yeah, you’re welcome.”

“We went and it changed all of our lives,” Susan added.
