Elton John Announces Retirement From Touring, Plans Three Year Goodbye Tour

Elton John will be retiring from touring.

The 70-year-old singer said he would do one more tour before calling it quits, which will last three years. The tour has been dubbed the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, and tickets will be available on February 2, 2018.

“I always thought I was going to be like Ray Charles, BB King – on the road forever,” Elton said during a press conference. “My priorities have changed. We had children and I changed our lives. That doesn’t mean to say I’m not going to be creative. but I’m not going to travel.”

He denied that his health was bad as well.

“Last year I picked up an infection and I was very ill and it knocked me sideways. But I still did 96 shows,” Elton said. “Believe me – if you ever do 300 shows, you’re not in ill health.”

Elton has been touring since 1969, and now has two 7-year-old twin boys, Elijah and Zachary, with David Furnish.
