Andy Cohen Weighs In on Kim Cattrall & Sarah Jessica Parker's Feud

Andy Cohen is weighing in on the feud between his friend Sarah Jessica Parker and her former Sex and the City co-star Kim Cattrall.

If you don’t know, months ago, Kim said that she was never friends with her co-stars and the relationships felt “toxic.” Then, earlier this month, Kim‘s brother suddenly passed away and Sarah Jessica wrote a comment on Kim‘s Instagram post, expressing her condolences and seemingly, mending a broken relationship.

Later, Kim thanked Sarah Jessica for her kind words, but then suddenly, Kim lashed out at SJP for “exploiting” her family’s tragedy.

Andy spoke about Kim and Sarah Jessica‘s situation on Andy Cohen Live, on his exclusive SiriusXM channel “Radio Andy.”

“I thought it was fake,” Andy said about waking up to the news that Kim ignited their feud again. “There was no way Kim Cattrall has posted this on her Instagram.”

“She expressed her condolences on the post … I would not call that exploiting a tragedy,” Andy continued. “What was [Sarah Jessica] supposed to do? Say something bad? I don’t understand.”

“I also don’t like it that people are characterizing this as a fat catfight. There’s only one person fighting here,” he added.

oh god im agreeing with the devil andy cohen

Andy needs to butt out, though. He’s making it last longer. He knows what he’s doing.

  • bree buckley

Biased. He has had a decades long friendship with SJP. I would expect nothing less than dishonesty about the situation and uncertain loyalty for SJP from him.

    Simply google the names.

  • lolo13

    Stfu Andy!

  • HG

I don’t know the whole story and I haven’t really followed this feud, but I kinda feel like what set Kim off was that SJP sent her condolences by posting a comment on a public social media account. So instead of SJP taking the time to reach out to Kim in an intimate and personal way, it looked like SJP just said that so people would see it and the news outlets would pick up the story. That’s my guess, but again, I don’t really know anything about these two.

  • SquidBillie

He’s just trying to get his ugly mug out there.

  • quartzoup

Why do celebs even post condolences publicly, if your words are worth anything you would pick up the phone and call them or go visit. Riding with Kim on this one.

  • Beau

He’s standing up for a friend….nothing wrong with that.

  • Beau

Maybe she didn’t have a current phone number or address and instagram was her only outlet.

  • quartzoup

You illustrate my point beautifully. If you don’t have the personal contact details of someone, why would your condolences be worth anything to them?

  • plez

Andy’s friends with SJP. He needs to stfu.

  • cutitout

I honestly do not no what SJP could have done to Kim to warrant that nasty, petty post. It made her look messy, and attention-seeking.

  • cutitout

I doubt SJP had her info anymore and would she even pick up the phone? Whenever news hits that a celebrity has a loss in their family, it is commonplace for present and former coworkers and staff to make public condolences. If Kim did not want the apology then she could have just ignored it but to write that message really made her look small.

  • cutitout

He should have spilled the tea as to what exactly the grievance was about.

I thought Kim made it clear, these people lack boundaries and respect. It’s easy to make out one person to be a total a-hole; but we don’t have the whole story. SJP and her camp need to lay off, it’s more than clear that Kim is not interested and wants to be left alone by her. Why is that so hard to understand; it’s beyond embarrassing at this point, someone please clue these people in. Shut up… just stop.

  • http://www.paulwalkerfoundation.org RayonLight

It’s all about perspective, let’s go back a bit, they haven’t gotten along a very long time and it’s clear they are not friends. Why is Kim in the wrong because she refuses to continue playing this game of putting on the fakery. She’s had enough and was pretty clear. So much more has happened behind the scenes, but I guess Kim needs to be like the rest of them in order to fit the mold.

  • cafeast

    Bloated cokehead…

    Team Kim. ALL THE WAY.

SJP wasn’t the only former cast mate to send condolences via social media.

SJP wasn’t the only former cast mate to send condolences via social media.

  • patthepuss

Even if IG was her only option there’s still the option to send a private message.

  • Deano R

It’s funny this is happening in the time of #metoo….cause I never jump to a conclusion after just one accusation. But, there are many people who have worked with SJP that say me too. I’m waiting for the Jami Gertz shoe to drop. SJP evidently made Jami’s life pure hell.
I hate a bully. Love Kim for standing up and not being victimized by the game!!!

  • wearing

    please get help, then.

  • HG

That’s true. However, I think I remember seeing somewhere that her other cast mates called her as well. I guess we can keep playing this guessing game without ever finding out. :/

He isn’t “weighing in”, he is speaking for SJP because apparently she is an 8th grader who has to get the last word in. Just try your best to respect the boundaries of someone who is grieving, children. It’s not all that hard.

  • MyName

Then why do people who have never even met the woman posted condolences to her and hers?
If some had not seen anything from SJP then she would also have been attacked for that.
She only did what anyone should have after hearing about it.

  • MyName

It isn’t the time for pettiness. SJP didn’t try to be her bestie. The woman just gave condolences. Many did who had never even met the family.

  • quartzoup

Lmfao they’re fans of hers, don’t you know how social media works?? You’re going way too deep, keep some perspective. It’s social media, not real life. In the real world, people go over to the house or call.

  • WhenenRome

We can all stop holding our breath, because Andy Cohen gave his two cents.

Perspective? You and most on this site are commenting on people who aren’t friends with or have even met.
Not all are fans of hers. I’ve seen little of her work or much of the many who’ve experienced loss and I post condolences.
People usually don’t reach out to give a personal response unless they’re active friends. Working together a few years back doesn’t mean that they are. Not everyone who works together are personal friends. It doesn’t mean that they hate one another but that they have their own lives and there’s only so many hours in a day.
Posts about loss make most give condolences or something like it. It isn’t a big deal or at least shouldn’t be.

  • Khazija

He has every right to defend his friend from a smear campaign. All SJP did was send a condolence which is what decent people do, when somebody you know has endured a tragedy. I always send condolences whether I know them or not.

  • Khazija

Kim is the one who had the reputation of being a witch over the years and she is the one exploiting her brother’s death to manipulate people into hating SJP. I can’t believe people are falling for Kim’s spin. It is common courtesy for people to send condolences. It is also common for people to do this on social media. I do this all of the time. It is common for celebrities. Kim posted about her brother’s death on social media and tons of people were sending their condolences. Cynthia Nixon also sent a condolence on instagram and Kim thanked her!

  • Khazija

It is common practice for people to send condolences regardless of whether you are best friends or not. SJP was just trying to be nice. Kim posted about it on social media and received thousands of condolences that way. She hypocritically thanks Cynthia ( who was not her friend either but lashes out at SJP twisting a sending of condolence as an attention seeking ploy when it is Kim hiding behind her brother’s death to attack SJP. Kim described her relationship with all of the co-stars on SATC as toxic. None of them were her friends yet she specifically chose to spitefully attack SJP. Kim is the one being fake trying to paint SJP as the cruel one here.

  • Khazija

Thank you. Cynthia Nixon sent her condolences on instagram as did several crew members sent condolences via twitter. I am not even a fan of Kim’s but I sent a condolence via twitter. Kim is a nasty piece of work and it saddens me that the majority hate SJP now because they are falling for Kim’s bullying. Kim was the one who had a rep of being the mean girl on set over the years, not SJP. Willie Garson and recently Jason Lewis both have insinuated that Kim is not a nice person.

  • Khazija

These are such lies. Over the years, all of the leaks painted Kim as the bully and mean one. Jason Lewis defended SJP as did Willie Garson. Molly Shannon also complimented her. Most of SJP’s costars love her. You shouldn’t jump to hating SJP based on Kim’s nasty manipulative attack over a condolence being sent.

  • Khazija

He is not being dishonest. Did it occur to you that SJP isn’t the cruel one here? Kim is the one who had the rep of being a diva and mean person over the years. She used her brother’s death and the sending of a condolence to rewrite the narrative. Jason Lewis recently defended SJP and even Willie Garson said that Kim was a –itch. Kim’s attack was nasty and horrendous, and Andy has every right to defend his friend.

  • Khazija

The majority of celebs express their well wishes and condolences publicly via social media. It is a common practice. Cynthia Nixon sent her a condolence via instagram and Kim thanked her. Kim thanked her SATC colleagues over twitter. Kim herself posted several messages on social media about her brother’s death. Sending a condolence was the decent thing to do and SJP did not deserve to be trashed over it. Thousands of people sent their condolences via social media to Kim. It is a common thing to do via social media for celebrities…for anyone for that matter.

  • Khazija

Thousands of people send their condolences or well wishes via social media, what are you talking about? Cynthia Nixon also sent her condolence via instagram and Kim thanked her. Kim is being manipulative to distort this into SJP being the villain here. I send condolences, well wishes, say RIP all of the time via social media.

  • Khazija

In the real world, it is common for people to send their condolences or wish people Happy Birthday or whatever via social media. It is no different with celebrities. Kim herself posted about several times via social media. Sending a condolence is called common courtesy.

  • Khazija

Kim is the one who crossed the line with her abusive attack here. She vilified SJP for sending a condolence for pete’s sake. She is hiding behind her brother’s death as an excuse to publicly lash out at SJP.

  • Khazija

Cynthia Nixon sent Kim a public message yet she didn’t get attacked. The majority of people who send condolences, say RIP, and etc do so PUBLICLY. Why are people having a different standard for SJP since Kim twisted this into an absurd attack?

  • Khazija

SJP and her friends are taking the higher road against Kim’s insane attack yet readers are painting SJP to be the bully over what Kim said. Several people over the years have described Kim as not being nice.

  • Wzy

Just read aloud what you just wrote: “hiding behind her brother’s death”, then practice empathy, then take just 40 seconds to think again about what you wrote.

  • WhenenRome

I didn’t realize Guiness Book had a category for people repeating themselves in online comment sections.

  • WhenenRome

Well if Jason Lewis was able to roll out of bed still wearing the clothes he wore while partying a few hours prior, put his greasy hair in a man-bun, and drag himself into a studio to lethargically raspy-voice some crass “I’m not going to say anything not nice – oh wait, I just did” comments to support his sometimes producer-employer SJP…. well then it *must* be true!

  • WhenenRome

Is it common practice to go on a tour of talk shows slamming your former co-star for not wanting to be your co-star again, then send insincere social-media “condolences” to them a few days later after their sibling dies? Then after your former co-star tells you to respectfully F-off, is it common practice to send all your “friends” / former employees to continue to slam said co-star while they are STILL mourning the death of their sibling? Maybe common-practice isn’t good practice.
