Tom Hardy Respects Shia LaBeouf's Method Acting: 'Drama is Not Known to Attract Stable Types'

Tom Hardy is opening up about his respect and appreciation for former co-star Shia LaBeouf.

In a recent profile with Esquire where he opens up about his “mortifying” arrest, the 31-year-old actor confirmed that he and Tom got into several physical altercations on set of the 2012 film Lawless – where Shia would drink moonshine by the gallon to get into character.

One day on set, a drunken Shia actually punched Tom hard out cold.

Six years later, it looks like there isn’t any bad blood between Tom and Shia.

Tom shared in the magazine that he understands Shia‘s form of method acting.

“A performer is asked to do two things: To be disciplined and accountable, communicative and a pleasure to work with,” Tom shared. “And then, within a split second, they’re asked to be a psychopath. Authentically. It takes a very strong human being to sustain a genuine sense of well-being through that baptism of fire. Drama is not known to attract stable types.”

“Shia has the ability to land scene after scene that builds a reality from utter fantasy,” Tom said. “We know the robots aren’t really there. They just aren’t. When I watch Shia, they are.”
