Drake Issues Statement to Clarify Blackface Picture Used for Pusha T's 'Story of Adidon' Diss Track

Drake is speaking out after Pusha T used a photo of the rapper in blackface for a diss track called “The Story of Adidon” released on Tuesday (May 29), which includes an allegation that Drake has a secret child.

The 31-year-old “God’s Plan” entertainer issued a statement on his Instagram Story on Wednesday night (May 30) to address the controversial image.

“I know everyone is enjoying the circus but I want to clarify the image in question. This was not from a clothing brand shoot or my music career,” he wrote.

“This picture is from 2007, a time in my life where I was an actor and I was working on a project that was about young black actors struggling to get roles, being stereotyped and type cast. The photos represented how African Americans were once wrongfully portrayed in entertainment.”

“Me and my best friend at the time Mazin Elsadig who is also an actor from Sudan were attempting to use our voice to bring awareness to the issues we dealt with all the time as black actors at auditions. This was to highlight and raise our frustrations with not always getting a fair chance in the industry and to make a point that the struggle for black actors had not changed much.”

If ever there was a good/acceptable explanation for blackface, I guess this is it… Also why isn’t anyone talking about the line where Pusha makes fun of Drake’s producer for having MS? Maybe it’s just me but it’s hard to “enjoy the circus” when parts of it are so painfully cruel.

I don’t even understand more? Why drag 40 into this? The beef should just go on with a new Drake response.
