Busy Philipps Slams Variety for Lack of Female TV Writers at Upcoming Panel
Busy Philipps is speaking out to slam Variety for organizing a panel of TV writers, which only will feature one woman.
The upcoming “A Night in the Writers’ Room” event will feature six drama writers and six comedy writers. The only female writer is Mom‘s Gemma Baker in the comedy hour.
Busy tweeted a ton of suggestions of female writers and showrunners who would be able to add great insight to the panel.
“Hey @Variety! Here are some ideas for you!” she wrote before listing off a bunch of names. “I used something called GOOGLE @Variety. IT WAS SO EASY! Turns out there are A BUNCH OF WOMEN RUNNING FANTASTIC TV SHOWS! So maybe next time you want to have a convo with showrunners, the odds shouldn’t be 11:1?Representation matters.Even at dumb industry events. ESPECIALLY THERE.”
