Rachel Brosnahan Spoke About Her Aunt Kate Spade in 2017 Interview

Designer Kate Spade tragically passed away on Tuesday (June 5) from an apparent suicide.

Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones during this time. One member of her family, Rachel Brosnahan, who stars in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, spoke about her Aunt Kate in an interview back in November of 2017. Rachel‘s grandmother, June, is Kate‘s mom.

In an interview with WWD, Rachel said that she admired fashion “from afar.” She added, “But people around me have said that I’ve inherited little pieces of Katie’s style. For example, I love a good shoe and a good bag, and I know that she was largely influenced by my grandmother, her mother, June. Who actually, fun fact, Midge is slightly inspired by.”

When Rachel won the Golden Globe for her work on Amazon series, Kate told Page Six, “I am beside myself! My daughter [Frances, 13] and I jumped up and down when she won. She deserves this recognition as she’s put her heart and soul into the role. We are insanely proud.”
