Parkland Students Sing 'Rent' Song at Tony Awards 2018

Students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School appear on stage to perform the song “Seasons of Love” from Rent at the 2018 Tony Awards held at Radio City Music Hall on Sunday (June 10) in New York City.

The kids are survivors of the Parkland, Fla. school shooting earlier this year, where 17 people were killed on Valentine’s Day.

The school’s musical theater instructor Melody Herzfeld was honored at the event with teh 2018 Excellence in Theatre Education Award. She saved 65 lives by barricading her students into a small closet during the shooting.
