Designer Stefano Gabbana Calls Selena Gomez 'Ugly' on Social Media

Italian designer Stefano Gabbana has found himself in some boiling water yet again.

After The Catwalk Italia Instagram posted a five-image split of Selena Gomez wearing different red dresses, the 55-year-old Dolce & Gabbana designer commented on the photo, writing “è proprio brutta,” on the photo, which roughly translates to “She’s so ugly.”

Fans then quickly came to the 25-year-old singer’s defense, slamming Stefano saying “We don’t care about your lame ass brand,” while another fan wrote “look in the mirror you are ugly both interior and exterior,” and “shame on you for online bullying.”

Stefano and business partner Domenico Dolce are no strangers to controversy.

Back in 2015, the designers called children born of IVF “synthetic.”

Selena has not responded to Stefano‘s comments yet.

    Women should boycott this pig

The fashion world has already disowned this piece of crap for his misogynistic & homophobic views so his opinion is irrelevant. Selena Gomez has been named over & over as one of the most beautiful women of this decade so he can go kick rocks with his belligerent hateful bullying.

  • quartzoup

Selena is refreshing. It’s nice to see a soft round face amongst all the bony, angular girls. Stefano would like the entire world to be bony and angular but that’s just because he’s old and boring.

only people who are beautiful should say someone’s ugly

  • JohnCharlie

He’s gay so it’s hard to make the case for homophobic, but not impossible. He certainly is misogynistic, though.

You’re right. All people of all genders should boycott this pig.

She is not ugly but her face is very puffy and child like. Not my type.

WTH are you talking about? This guy might be gay but refuses to claim it while he rants homophobic BS about the LGBT community, please read: http://www.newnownext.com/dolce-gabbana-gay-man/12/2017/

i don’t find his comments ok at all, but Chanel was a Nazi supporter and called fat women horrible names and didn’t want them wearing her clothes and bags. pretty sure lots of fat women still buy her stuff and may not even know what she said. so…. fashion and actually every industry is filled with people like this. he’s just being vocal. wrongly, but others have said stuff similar. designers operate with muses (karl l. loves pharell and cara del.) so D&G probably don’t ever want SG in their stuff and don’t care if they alienate her or people who like her.

    Why? ;P

And how do you define and measure “beautiful”?
Beauty is a subjective concept and is very individual thing, as they say:

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

“look in the mirror you are ugly both interior and exterior,” and “shame on you for online bullying.”

Wait, doesn’t this makes the fan a bully too? xD
How exactly does this works? :P

I’m not defending or judging anyone, but I just wonder since when s/o’s saying that s/o else is ugly is a newsworthy thing? :3

Beauty is a very subjective and individual concept, what one finds fugliful, another may find beautiful and vice versa.

I can understand if you personally care about the person being called ugly in particular, whether you are their friend, family or just a fan, lash your heart out in their defense and go crazy as much as you desire, I can fully understand that, but otherwise generally who the fuck cares what anyone, even “celebs”, e.g. famous ppl say and think in general.

I certainly don’t, unless a (famous or not) person makes a compelling argument or has anything else worthy to say.

But until such “glamorous occasion”, they are no different than any other person and I couldn’t care any more or less what they say. Ppl and media outlets should stop giving THAT MUCH attention and influential power into famous ppl.

And ppl should also stop being so uptight about what other ppl say, unless it affects them directly personally in any way.

S/o said this, so fucking what.

You probably have said the exact same thing yourself, should you get an angry mob after your arse too? Ppl should be able to express their opinions freely and without fear of persecution, regardless of what their opinions are.

That is of course if you are not doing anything illegal, such as causing harm beyond the emotional spectrum f.e. which isn’t exactly an opinion to begin with.

And in the end, if what s/o said upset you that much, feel free to say mean and upsetting things to that person too or at least your opinion and that’s that. No need to start a boycotting campaign and lynch mobs, you are however free and in your full right to boycott them at a personal level.

If what s/o said was so despicable, then surely enough ppl will personally boycott them anyway. If you are not convinced, please take a look at all the examples through history.

  • MetalQuintessence

And what if the genders were reversed, would/should you call for men to boycott a female pig? x3

What I mean is, why should “women” (all and any women) boycott anyone, regardless of gender and sexuality, bcs the person has said that he finds a particular woman ‘ugly’?

Ppl, men and women are unique individuals, not a hive mind.

If s/o, let’s say a female said that f.e. Ryan Gosling was ‘ugly’, I wouldn’t feel generally offended as a man. In fact I might agree with her a lot, but that’s irrelevant, either way. xD

And I’m not defending the guy either, but ppl should stop “gendering” every aspect of life, at least to such extreme degree where everything is about gender. Even when gender has nothing to do in a particular case and generally irrelevant.

If it’s not gender, then it’s about race, religion or stereotypes… that’s a whole wider topic, eventho same.

And why shouldn’t one have the right to criticize the LGBT community and hold critical opinions regarding them?

I wasn’t deadpan serious either, and I meant it as a rather philosophical question. ^^
