Andrea Riseborough Speaks About Starting Her Own Female-Run Production Company!

Andrea Riseborough is featured in Rogue magazine’s new issue!

Here’s what the actress had to share with the mag…

On starting her female run production company, Mother Sucker: “I was motivated by there not being any female producers or female storytellers, but also because I wanted to create work and set up an environment in which I can help them do that and support other women who work on what they want to see.”

On women in film today: “There’s a very narrow version of women in film – who are either chaste, pure and irrepressibly good, or are hyper sexualized. [They're] just very boring stereotypes of women.”

Sounds like segregation. If men started a men’s only production company for projects; it be labeled misogynistic and that would be accurate. Yet I am baffled that for some reason women think this isn’t segregation…. much less willful segregation.
