Colton Underwood Finally Tells Becca He's a Virgin on 'The Bachelorette'

Colton Underwood has finally opened up to The Bachelorette‘s Becca Kufrin about being a virgin.

The 26-year-old former football player’s virginity was teased in the season premiere episode, but it took until the Top 6 episode for the moment to happen.

“I really want to tell her I’m a virgin and it’s a personal choice,” Colton said in a confessional before finally telling Becca on their one-on-one date. “My fear today is just how is she going to react to it. I hope she understands.”

While relaxing on a boat with Becca, it seemed Colton was about to spill the beans when he told her he’s not very experienced when it comes to dating. The conversation got interrupted and he had to wait until dinner to finally tell all.

“There’s a conversation I do want to have with you because it could be a potential roadblock for us. It’s one of those things that’s hard for me to talk about because I haven’t talked about it very often and it’s something that I struggle with articulating,” Colton said.

“I told you earlier I put my professional life in front of my personal life and I spent a lot of time working on ‘football Colton’ and I sort of forgot who ‘personal Colton was.’ And I only had one serious relationship coming into this and I haven’t had that many girlfriends or that many dates because of sports. And because of that, I am a virgin,” Colton said.

“It was tough. You know, I’m not even sure, to be honest, if my dad knows. It’s something that I haven’t shared openly with a lot of people. There’s only a handful of people that know,” Colton continued. “It’s something now that I’m proud of. It’s something now that everyone who I see a future with should know, so it’s something that I want you to know.”

Becca then thanked Colton for telling her and said, “I get that that’s difficult and I would never want to pressure you or put you out of your comfort zone in a situation where it would worry you.” She then had to leave the room to gather her thoughts.

When Becca came back, Colton said, “I’m scared, because it’s not something that I talk about very often.” He later added that, “For me, it’s one of those things, when the time comes, it will happen. I’m not trying to prove anything, it’s just a part of me. In the past, I was scared. I was ashamed because growing up in a locker room environment isn’t the easiest. There was a lot of open dialogue in the athletic community and to be different in a locker room, is something I never wanted to be, so for me, I hid it and made up a lot of lies.”

“It really threw me for a loop because it was like, ‘Who am I? Why did I make up lies? Why wasn’t I proud of who I was? Why didn’t I stand up for the man I am?’ And that’s why now it’s important for me to share that with you. And I want you to know too, I’m not waiting for marriage. I’m waiting for the right heart. Now I look, I’m 26, I’m not gonna have a mistake one night. I want it to be a special moment. I want it to be a gift to give somebody,” Colton concluded.

Becca responded, “I get it and I respect you for that so much. I would never judge you or think any less of you for that.”

In her confessional Becca said, “Colton telling me he’s a virgin was unexpected because he hasn’t experienced a ton of life like most people at this part of their lives have. But it means so much that he was able to open up about something that was so difficult for him. I loved when he said, ‘It’s not a marriage thing for me, it’s a heart thing.’ I appreciate someone who takes that so seriously.”
