Naomi Watts Joins 'Game of Thrones' Prequel in Leading Role!

Casting for the Game of Thrones prequel pilot from HBO is starting to roll in and Naomi Watts has landed one of the leading roles!

While her exact character details are being kept secret for now, Variety has learned that she will play “a charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret.”

According to the publication, the prequel “chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend–it’s not the story we think we know.” It will take place 1,000 years before Game of Thrones.

There are reportedly five Game of Thrones projects in the works from HBO, some being spinoffs. This particular project will be a prequel series from Jane Goldman.
