Taylor Swift Writes Letter to Fans Announcing New Deal with Universal Music Group!

Taylor Swift has announced that she has signed a brand new global recording agreement with Universal Music Group. The company will now serve as her worldwide music partner, with Republic Records serving as her label in the United States.

The 28-year-old superstar posted a note on her Instagram page, explaining the deal and some important details.

“I’m ecstatic to announce that my musical home will be Republic Records and Universal Music Group,” Taylor announced in a post on Instagram. “It’s…incredibly exciting to know that I’ll own all of my master recordings that I make from now on. It’s really important to me to see eye to eye with a label regarding the future of our industry. I feel so motivated by new opportunities created by the streaming world and the ever changing landscape of our industry…I also feel strongly that streaming was founded on and continues to thrive based on the magic created by artists, writers, and producers.”

“There was one condition that meant more to me than any other deal point. As part of my new contract…I asked that any sale of their Spotify shared result in a distribution of money to their artists, non-recoupable. They have generously agreed to this, at what they believe will be much better terms than paid out previously by other major labels. I see this as a sign that we are headed towards positive change for creators – a goal I’m never going to stop trying to help achieve, in whatever ways I can,” she continued.

Taylor then went on to thank her entire fan base for their “dedication, trust, and loyalty…who have cared about the worlds and melodies I’ve written. My biggest goal moving forward is to make you proud….I can’t wait to show you what I’m making next.”

Taylor was previously signed with Big Machine.

Love her or hate her you have to give her props for sticking up for all artists. You can say the Spotify agreement is in her own best interests, of course it would be – but she did not have to add that all artists are to be paid. People need to give her more credit for her actions instead of always hating on her. Imo she is on of the most giving celebs out there.

I’ll begrudgingly agree that her work for better payment from streaming services for not just her but other lesser-known artists is commendable. Other big names have just worked out backdoor deals for them alone.
However your last sentence is a but nuts and over the top.
