Dolce & Gabbana Cancels China Fashion Show Amid Backlash

The Dolce&Gabbana fashion show scheduled to take place in China on Wednesday (November 21) was canceled just hours ahead of the event after backlash against the label and designer Stefano Gabbana.

The brand billed the show as a “tribute to China,” but there has been backlash against some marketing materials, including a social media video series titled “Eating With Chopsticks.”

The videos were deleted from the Dolce&Gabbana account on Chinese social media platform Weibo, though Gabbana allegedly was against the decision, according to alleged direct messages he sent to an Instagram user. The alleged messages defended the videos and called the Chinese press, “China Ignorant Dirty Smelling Mafia.”

Dolce&Gabbana released a statement saying that their Instagram account and also Gabbana‘s Instagram account were hacked and the messages were not sent by them.

Many of the models hired to walk in the fashion show announced that they would be boycotting it.

After canceling the fashion show altogether, the brand released this statement: “Our dream was to bring to Shanghai a tribute event dedicated to China which tells our history and vision. It was not simply a fashion show, but something that we created especially with love and passion for China and all the people around the world who loves Dolce & Gabbana. What happened today was very unfortunate not only for us, but also for all the people who worked day and night to bring this event to life. From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to express our gratitude to our friends and guests. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.”

Please. These two have said some stupid racist bigoted ignorant bullshit in the past, but they were hacked? Lmao. I don’t think so.

Although it’s funny the things people and companies can say or do without anyone caring and then BAM they say something they usually say and then people care and get pissed. Crazy.

Right? Do they seriously expect us to believe their bs “we were hacked” excuse? That’s basically the “my dog ate my homework” equivalent for the internet. They’ve said disgusting and ignorant shit in the past. I wouldn’t put it past them at all. Good on the models who boycotted.

  • Marie Bunny Shepard

Yeah, all of this thanks to DIET_PRADA ! The IG account own by two people that call off BS in the fashion world.
JJ should have mention them in the article by the way.
Go follow the stories on this account, it’s even worst. And it also debunked this “hacked” excuse, since Gabbana actually shared screenshots of the early conversations with Diet_prada in his own IG stories… I mean, his own phone screenshots can’t be hacked, so he digged his own hole here ! ha !

So…he thought videos mocking them with chopsticks and other stuff was cute and funny? Then thought they would teach China thru their history? This has always been a problematic duo. Why ppl still support them i have no idea. They are racist, homophobic, ignorant bigots and need to go away
