Reese Witherspoon Is Brutally Honest With Daughter Ava Phillippe

Reese Witherspoon makes sure she’s honest with her daughter Ava!

The 42-year-old actress recently explained that she thinks that being honest with children is important because not everything can be perfect all the time.

“I feel like I’m constantly counteracting pressure from the parents who want to make the lives of their kids golden and magical at all moments! Guess what, kids? You’re going to be disappointed and uncomfortable once in a while,” Reese explained to FastCompany.

She added, “I remember Ava crying in bed in third grade — she was on JV basketball and she was the only kid on the team who didn’t score. I said, ‘Aves, maybe you’re bad at basketball.’ She thought that was mean. I said, ‘Mean or true? ‘Cause, guess what? Your mom’s bad at basketball, too.’”

Wowsa, exactly 2 months went by since I made my former comments !
    ***
Makes my heart happy to see you so lucky Reese – together will all the ones
(Jim, your children, your mom, your brother, your friends and all the other ones) who love you !
    ***
And my heart will give you all the wisdom to hold on this lucky life foreverrr !
    ***
Of course, not every girl can be as good at
basketball as the “female adaequate of Dirk Nowitzki” !
Well, never mind ! Nobody can be a specialist at all disciplines/types of sports that exist at the same time ! But with your wisdom about being an actress, Ava can develope to an excellent actress too, I think.
    ***
And if somebody can´t develope to a (good) specialist, it shouldn´t be no reason to say “you´re not good enough and thus you get less respect” !
In a world of equality and humanity, everybody (who behaves respectful and not criminal) should be treated with the same respect and get the same love from his/her parents.
But what I´m talking here? Reese, you already know this wisdom, coz´ your
a good mom for ya´ children. And Jim and Ryan too !! And Betty is a good grandma and a good mom for you !!
    ***
Next time I´ll write about the criteria about a good and longlasting
marriage/relationship for all the ones out there, who think they could need
my wisdom – if it´s really wise enough, well, hmmm … we will see.

Reese, you are so right !!!
“Helicopter-parents” are no good for their children. By saying to everything their children do “You could have done this better. Do it better this way. Well, I can do it better … and so on”, they create perfectionism instead of self confidence in the heart and the mind of their children.
And that sort of educating is the wrong way.
And once such children begin to think, that everything they do is not good enough, they´ve lost their self confidence and feel bad inside.
(And in the worst case, such a development can get selfdescructable for
their life and end with a suicide.)
“Helicopter-parents” take away the self efficacy of their children by giving the solution for a problem to their children – without giving them the chance and the time to find the solution for theirselves. And the less problems the children can´t solve for theirselves, the smaller their self confidence gets and they start to think that they can´t solve the problem without their parents help … and later of the help of others. And “Helicopter-parents” allways mistrust their children by controlling everything the children do or by
even ask conrolling questions, before their children want to do this and that.
And that sort of helicoptering is even desastreous for the self confidence of
their children, and it let increase the perfectionism inside their minds.
And perfectionism is really a poison for everybody´s mind.
Optimistic persons do never think perfectionistic. They do their best without
exaggerating it! And if the result is not perfect, they are still happy with
that not perfect result. And that is the wisdom children have to learn.
Being happy even with non-perfect results – and sometimes even with a failure, as long as they gave their best without exaggerating it.
Makes my heart happy to hear, that you carry this wisdom too, Reese !
