Here's the Official Reason 'Sons of Anarchy' Was Removed from Netflix

Charlie Hunnam‘s FX show Sons of Anarchy was removed from Netflix’s streaming service this weekend, and fans were very upset over this latest development.

Now, the creator of the show, Kurt Sutter, is explaining why the hit drama was removed and why his new show, Mayans M.C., will also never hit Netflix.

“The simple explanation why SOA is no longer on Netflix and neither will MAYANS… The Disney/Fox deal was about creating a competing streaming platform. That is the future of TV. Although it’ll take a minute to launch, F/D’s content is their biggest asset in that marketplace,” Kurt tweeted to his followers questioning the decision to remove the show. “You can still watch FX shows on FXNow, Hulu and Amazon. At least, for now… I know that doesn’t help if you only have Netflix, but in this ever-changing digital landscape, we are doing our fucking best to get content on as many streaming sources as possible. Sorry it’s wack.”

If you don’t know, Disney recently bought Fox. Disney is set to launch its own streaming service, Disney+, and though the launch date hasn’t been set, it’s rumored to be sometime in 2019.

So were just going to get bombarded with streaming services, all with 5% quality content and all expecting us to pay a monthly fee for them?

I don’t mind two or three, but I’m not going to subscribe to yet another service everytime a new series launches!

I want a single unified platform where all my content is on hand and searchable. TV, movies, music, the lot. You know what already provides this and has done for years? Kodi.

If disney thinks that it will attract subscribers by removing shows and movies from Netflix – they are wrong.. no one will pay for 5 different services just to watch some stupid shows.. Netflix has more than enough original content for watching for a lifetime.

SOA is not exactly Disney friendly.

Except it isn’t available on FXNOW. Get your facts straight.

The market will decide. I know I won’t pay for more than a couple of services at their going rate, however if they (the various streaming services) wisely decide to broaden their market share with competitive fees I could be induced expand my consumption of them.

This whole actual Disney takeover in Hollywood makes me feel uncomfortable as a movie fan I have to say.

So I’m still buying great series and movies on blu ray. And SOA is great!!! I’m not convinced to rely on those streaming services when it comes to my favorites.

They are doing their best to get content on as many streaming sources as possible by removing it from a streaming source. What BS!
