Halsey Calls Out Victoria's Secret After Performing at Fashion Show

Halsey is not happy with Victoria’s Secret after she performed at the 2018 fashion show this year.

The 24-year-old entertainer referred to chief marketing officer Ed Razek‘s recent comments about the show when he said, “Shouldn’t you have transsexuals in the show? No. No, I don’t think we should. Well, why not? Because the show is a fantasy. It’s a 42-minute entertainment special. That’s what it is. It is the only one of its kind in the world, and any other fashion brand in the world would take it in a minute, including the competitors that are carping at us.”

Halsey took to Instagram on Sunday (December 2), as the fashion show aired, to make her thoughts known.

“I have adored the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show since I was young. Performing this year alongside other amazing artists and hard-working models/friends was supposed to be the best night of my year. However, after I filmed the performance, some comments were made regarding the show that I simply cannot ignore,” she wrote.

“As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I have no tolerance for a lack of inclusivity. Especially not one motivated by stereotype. If you’re on my page because you watched my performance tonight, please allow me instead to direct your attention to GLSEN: An organization that offers services aimed at protecting LGBTQ+ youth. And with respect to those youth targeted by these comments in a world where they have been made to feel ‘other,’ I have made a sizeable donation in their honor,” Halsey continued.

“If you are a trans person reading this, and these comments have made you feel alienated or invalidated please know that you have allies. We stand in solidarity,” she added.

Victoria Secret has always been this way. if she ‘adored’ VS for years, she’d know that. she just took the money and then wagged her finger afterwards.

Omg give me a break this is how it’s always been and there’s never been an issue!! This is like all of a sudden white people thinking they deserve to be included in the BET awards and nominations. Why does everyone make an issue of everything?? Rudolph the red nose reindeer is now inappropriate? I hate the world we are living in right now

It is laughable that she think VS should chastised to be all inclusive. Their branding while PROMOTING TO the masses has never accurately REPRESENTED their mass audience. Fine with that. Show was taped a month ago..plenty of time to cash her paycheck then meet with her PR staff to formulate a response to stay relevant in the press. But that statement is made by a 60yr old, cynical woman who was not represented in the show..🤗😉

“I have made a sizeable donation”. Pure trash! Classy people don’t talk about their charitable donations.

  • mahbelle

no one wants to see obese women in VS lingerie and trans people do NOT have to be included in everything. halsey’s a hypocrite.

  • Aimee

She still cashed that cheque though and now has the audacity to speak.

Oh Ashley…how you’ve changed. I remember when you were a normal person.

  • Kat

Sorry lingerie was made for women. If transwomen see themselves as women where the fuck is the problem ? Its like the LGBT trying to change my country language because we dont have non gender pronouns. Like fuck out of here.
Fight against child anger, poverty, GLOBAL WARMING, immigration laws/deportation but to fight for women with male genatelia to walk in VS is such an empty fight.

Exactly. A lot of ppl in the fashion business are known for having attitudes like this and like it or not, always have and always will regardless of the public apologies. She took the money then wagged her finger when she knew she was safe. If she is as outraged as she claims, she can easy hand it back.

  • Aimee

Or even donate the full amount to charity. But no, she’s sitting on her high horse while counting the cash. Really disappointing.

every single public event/movie whatever does not have to have every single representation of every sexuality, every race every gender- It does not make it a bad thing to just be what it is- it does not mean it is biased- or prejudiced. Like does every restaurant have to serve food from every country to not be prejudiced? no some things just have natural separation. VS fashion show is not a transgender event why does everything have to include everything??

Define sizable to us in your own words. Was it the same as your payment from V.S? Double, triple or just a fraction of what they paid you?

You’re a hypocrite and your words are meaningless. If you were so outraged which I highly doubt you were in the first place, then A) Give back the money in full. B) Donate the entire payment to charity or C) Why not decline the offer to perform in the first place after the comments were made?!?
