Jackie Chan Opens Up About Cheating on His Wife: 'I Made a Serious Mistake'

Jackie Chan is getting candid about his past regrets in his memoir Never Grow Up.

The 64-year-old action star opened up about cheating on his wife Joan Lin in the book, which was previously pushed in Chinese in 2015.

“In 1999, I made a serious mistake. When the news broke about an affair I’d had that resulted in a child, the media frenzy was like a bomb going off…I wanted to phone Joan but I didn’t know what to say. I wouldn’t be able to explain this,” he wrote in an excerpt obtained by the South China Morning Post.

He also revealed that he once hit his son Jaycee when he was a boy.

“When [my son Jaycee] was still young, I hit him once, and was very heavy-handed — directly lifting him and throwing him onto the sofa. That time I really scared him and his mother to death, and I myself was very regretful,” Jackie said in the excerpt obtained by Variety.

Jackie also opens up about his rise to fame and ostentatious spending at the beginning of his career.

Never Grow Up will be available on December 4th.
