Sacha Baron Cohen & Eddie Redmayne's 'Trial of the Chicago 7' Shut Down

The Trial of the Chicago 7, which was supposed to be directed by Aaron Sorkin for a February 2019 start, has been shut down.

The film was set to star Sacha Baron Cohen, Eddie Redmayne and Jonathan Majors in the movie about “anti-war activists such as Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin and Tom Hayden, who were accused by the federal government of conspiracy and incitement to riot because of the protests surrounding the 1968 Democratic National Convention,” THR reports.

Amblin, the production company, shut the movie down due to “budgetary concerns,” but is still committed to making the picture.

Amblin said in a statement, “Aaron just adapted To Kill A Mockingbird which is premiering on Broadway this Thursday. He is currently evaluating his schedule and commitments to determine the best time and way to make The Trial of the Chicago 7. Amblin remains involved as a producer.”
