New Emmys Rule Could Affect 'Black Mirror' Eligibility

The Television Academy just instated a new rule for the Emmys that will affect the awards eligibility of future episodes of Black Mirror, among other projects.

The Academy has redefined a “Television Movie” as a movie that runs at least 75 minutes, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

For the past two years, episodes of Black Mirror have won in the Outstanding Television Movie category. Each season of Black Mirror consists of a handful of episodes that have their own casts, settings, and stories. While 2018′s winner USS Callister ran at 76 minutes, 2017′s winner San Junipero was just 61 minutes.

Another series that is coming to television next year that could be affected by the rule change is the reboot of The Twilight Zone.
