Idris Elba's New Netflix Show Helps Explain His Coachella Gig

If you were confused by Idris Elba being listed as a performer on the Coachella lineup, you probably don’t know too much about his history!

The 46-year-old actor and Sexiest Man Alive got his start as a DJ when he was a teenager and he has maintained his career in the music industry while pursuing acting.

Now, Idris is starring in the new Netflix series Turn Up Charlie, about a struggling DJ and eternal bachelor, who is given a final chance at success when he reluctantly becomes a ‘manny’ to his famous best friend’s problem-child daughter, Gabby.

Piper Perabo and JJ Feild also star in the new comedy series, premiering on Friday, March 15.
