Adam explained that before Girls, he had been doing theater and didn’t like television.
“I didn’t want to do it because I was doing theater and I thought TV was evil. I just auditioned for it and I didn’t want to. Then we shot the pilot on my birthday then we waited a year,” Adam told host Jenelle Riley.
In the end, HBO picked up the pilot and the series helped launch Adam into a star.
