Lady Gaga Reacts to Oscar Nominations for 'A Star is Born'

Lady Gaga is sharing her initial thoughts on receiving two Oscar nominations for her work in the movie A Star Is Born.

The 32-year-old entertainer was nominated for both Best Actress and Best Original Song for co-writing “Shallow.”

Gaga told The New York Times that she slept in and missed the nominations announcement, but she found out about the nominations at around 8:30am PST thanks to a call with her manager Bobby Campbell.

“I’ve been trying to get some sleep because I’m on showbiz time,” Gaga said. “I woke up around 8:30 and I didn’t know anything about it.” When she heard the news she says she “just burst into tears.”

Gaga says she was able to sleep through all the congratulatory calls and texts she received in the morning.

“The ones that mean the most to me are the ones that come from my family,” she said about the messages from her loved ones. “These are not Oscar nominations for me, these are Oscar nominations for the Germanottas. I come from an Italian-immigrant family, and this feels like a very big win for them. This film was a lot of hard work, and I wouldn’t know that hard work if I didn’t know the hard work of the lineage of my family.”

A Star Is Born has eight total nominations at the Oscars, including one for Best Picture.

I never believe them when they say they weren’t up watching the nominations. lol It’s one of the biggest moments of your life and you say you slept through it? Just admit that you were watching and waiting; it’s nothing to be ashamed of.

P.S. If you haven’t, you should see Yalita Aparicios’s reaction video. So sweet.

BALONEY. this phony didn’t sleep through anything. she was probably up all night waiting for them to be announced. she’s such a pretentious twit. and of course she BURST INTO TEARS, because it was SOOOOOO unexpected. please don’t let her win best actress.

I doubt she will as she can’t buy the Oscar like she did her GG. She’ll probably get Best Song then take all the credit for that again even though 3 other people helped write it.
