Mary J. Blige Trained Five Months In Martial Arts for 'The Umbrella Academy'!

Mary J. Blige bundles up as she makes her way out of the Good Morning America studios on Thursday (February 14) in New York City.

During her appearance, the 48-year-old singer-actress dished about her big birthday celebration and playing a time-traveling assassin named Cha-Cha in the new Netflix series The Umbrella Academy, which arrives tomorrow.

“When I saw the script and I saw who Cha-Cha was I saw that she knew hand-in-hand combat, she can shoot all types of guns, and the script was amazing anyway,” Mary said. Just the fact that I get to fight, I get to learn martial arts, I was like ‘yaassss!’ Five months of training in Toronto.”

Mary also talked about the music she has in the works: “I’m working on two of them,” she said. “It’s great, my fans are going to be super happy. It reflects my life, and all our lives as woman that are bosses.”
