'SpongeBob SquarePants' Spinoffs Are In the Works at Nickelodeon!

Get ready for a whole new era of SpongeBob SquarePants!

Nickelodeon is planning to grow out the beloved series with multiple spinoff series, according to Variety on Thursday (February 14).

“That’s our Marvel Universe. You have this amazing show that’s run for almost twenty years,” said Nickelodeon president Brian Robbins.

He also confirmed that the original SpongeBob series will remain in the works, but that there is “room to explore other characters.”

Potential spinoff options include a “tell an original story about SpongeBob and Patrick, or maybe tell a Sandy Cheeks stand-alone story, or can Plankton have his own? I think the fans are clamoring for it.”
